Guson Almuhammad

I am Guson, and I am 31 years old. I have three children, the eldest of whom is my twelve-year-old daughter, and then two sons, who are eleven and ten-years-old.

My life in Syria before the war was fine, where I lived with my husband in a beautiful but simple home. We were able to provide a generous life for our children. When the war broke out, we all suffered. Fear flooded our hearts, especially those of our children, as the jet fighters and artillery targeted our city of Der Ezzor.

My husband decided to send my children and I to Aleppo. When we were settled in Aleppo, my husband was killed by a missile in Der Ezzor. This is when my deep suffering began. I had to bring up my children by myself, whilst also being pregnant. After four years of suffering alone, I decided to move to Turkey, yet my brothers did not allow me to travel unless I got married again. Five years after my husband died I married my cousin and we traveled together to Turkey along with my children.

My children are now going to school and have been able to catch up with the years of schooling they had missed during the war.

I need this work to support my family, help my husband in bringing up my children and to meet the needs of us all.

I would like to thank all those who have helped me, and I will work hard and give my best effort.

I would like to give special thanks to Martta and Canan.
